I’m a fiber artist living on a few wooded acres in Central Ohio with my family and a growing number of pets that includes four cats and two mini (I use that word lightly) pigs. This year has been one of much professional growth as I’ve had the opportunity to learn from several talented artists. I’ve stretched my skills and stepped out of my comfort zone and yet the things that have always inspired me remain the same: Nature, our connection to it and to each other, myths, lore and symbols, shadow work and the mysteries that lay just beyond our grasp.
My love affair with wool began back in my days as a doula and young mother when I learned to knit like so many of the other birthworkers I knew. I loved all the colors and textures of the fibers and it wasn’t long before I discovered felt-making and its infinite possibilities. Wet felting has an ancient history. I combine this traditional form of felting with the modern technique of needle felting to create unique pieces that often reflect the natural world and materials with which they were made.
